Co-operatives of the Américas participated with FEDECACES in Expo2019

From El Salvador, the Europa Coopera event was held, and the project #Coops4Dev advances were presented.

Within the framework of the Day of Europe, which is commemorated every May 9, was held the fair "Europe Coopera: Expo 2019", which shows the impact of more than 60 of the cooperation initiatives supported by the European Union (EU) and its member states in El Salvador through the work of its partners in government, civil society, the private sector and academia.

During the opening of the event was present the Ambassador of the EU in El Salvador, Andreu Bassols, as well as the presence of the Ambassadors of Italy, Umberto Malnati, of Germany, Bern Finke, of France David Izzo and the United Kingdom (Bernhand Garside), and various members of the Presidential Cabinet as well as the Vice President-Elect of El Salvador, Felix Ulloa.

Cooperatives of the Americas, together with representatives of FEDECACES, shared the actions and progress of the Partnership of the International Cooperative Alliance and the European Commission "Cooperatives in development: companies focused on people, in action", in this same scenario FEDECACES had the opportunity to present the state of Co-operative sector in El Salvador and in the Americas.

About The Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of El Salvador (Fedecaces)

It reaches half a century of existence this year, with 250 thousand associates and around one million users of its different services. Fedecaces operates 31 affiliated cooperatives nationwide, after starting in 1966 with 23.

With 50 years of experience in cooperative sector, it has been characterized by supporting the Salvadoran productive sector. In 2015 it reached $ 450 million in loan placement.

"We link around 250 thousand people throughout the national territory. These are affiliates that have an impact on households that represent between 750 thousand and one million people linked to Fedecaces, "said Héctor Córdova, corporate manager of the Federation. He added that for 2020, they hope to position themselves as a sector of cooperative nature, characterized by their own sustainability.
