Build back better together with the principles and responses of cooperatives to the crisis generated by COVID-19 in the Americas.
La XXII Regional Conference of Cooperatives of the Americas to be held on November 4 and 5, 2021 will be the first virtual edition due to COVID-19 and the crisis that it generated.
The global crisis derived from the pandemic is a holistic, systemic crisis: it began by violently affecting the health sector, but immediately manifested its causes and repercussions in terms of employment, migration, the environment, social cohesion, economic systems, finance: in short, It is the most serious and profound crisis of the development model of the globalized world that has been in force since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The cooperatives of the Americas and the entire system that we represent responded by mobilizing the principles and values that make up our identity, but also our best characteristics: resilience, innovation, services to members, financial and social assets.
From here, from these elements and actions we want to distribute and contribute to the global reconstruction agenda: to the agenda “People, Planet, Prosperity” of the United Nations, the G20 and the European Union, but interpreting it with emphasis on our models, our proposals and tools to draw economic models and post-pandemic societies that are traditional inclusive, traditional sustainable and truly benefit people and their territories.
