A working group has been created based on the recent visit of the president of the CCW (consumer sector organization of the ACI), Petar Stefanov, and the joint seminar held in Uruguay, where the networks of agricultural and consumer cooperatives played a leading role. of the Americas.
Strengthening networks of agricultural production and consumption in our region will be multiplied by the agreement with the global organization of consumer cooperatives (CCW), which seeks to leverage access to new markets and facilitate exchange through its own platforms.
This is the result of the strengthening of the link between Cooperatives of the Americas and the CCW, expressed during a joint seminar held on March 13 in Colonia del Sacramento, at the end of the first meeting of the year of the regional Administration Council.
To carry out this joint initiative, a working group has been created that will have, among other functions:
- Promote commercial cooperation between consumer entities in the Americas as well as with the other ICA regions, in particular with Euro Coop and the Asia-Pacific Committee of Consumer Cooperatives.
- Support the implementation of the pilot project of the Coop2Coop Marketplace online platform, including its products and services for commercial realization.
- Promote the exchange of experiences and good practices, communications and information on initiatives and events that enhance the cooperative business model.
- Intensify cooperation between cooperative sectors in view of their interaction and common projects and initiatives.
- Develop a schedule for the specific implementation of this agreement, with the assistance of the regional director of Cooperatives of the Americas and the director of the CCW, with the additional objective of establishing a regional structure of consumer cooperatives in the Americas.
The joint activities in Uruguay also had the support and accompaniment of the president of Cooperatives of the Americas, Graciela Fernández, who thanked Stefanov for his visit to our region and presented him with recognition from the Board of Directors.
Also present was the president of the ACI, Ariel Guarco, who highlighted that this agreement between the region of the Americas and the Consumer sector of the International Cooperative Alliance goes in line with making the integration and intercooperation necessary to strengthen the cooperative sector a reality. on a global stage.
