As part of the project coops4dev, Cooperatives of the Americas held a space for exchange and reflection with the members of the Board of Directors. During the Council meeting held on April 3 and 4 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the platform was presented Coopimpacto, designed to share and highlight cooperative activities that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Paula Arzadún, Head of Education, Training, and Research at Cooperatives of the Americas, presented the platform and highlighted how it connects the cooperative identity with the Sustainable Development Goals, as cooperatives can link the initiatives or activities they carry out that contribute to achieving the SDGs with cooperative principles.
Cooperatives will be able to upload their initiatives and add the corresponding evidence, which will be reviewed and validated by a team responsible for verifying their alignment with the SDGs. Once this review process is complete, the initiative will be approved and incorporated into the repository, and the cooperative will receive a document validating the initiative.
In addition, the platform offers tools such as detailed user manuals and audiovisual materials, which facilitate the incorporation and management of information. All information contained on the platform is downloadable, ensuring easy and direct access for both cooperatives and other interested organizations. The registration process was explained in detail.
With this presentation, Cooperatives of the Americas is available to collaborate with members to create spaces for exchange and enhance the platform, which will allow for the generation of statistics and positioning tools that reinforce the cooperative impact on the SDGs.
This breakthrough represents a key step in promoting the role of cooperatives as essential actors in global sustainable development, providing a powerful tool that validates and makes visible their contributions. This platform has been funded through the Coops4dev Project co-financed by the European Union and the International Cooperative Alliance.
