Participation in the European Union Development Policy Forum

Cooperatives of the Americas participated in the European Union's Development Policy Forum (PFD), focused on dialogue and monitoring of the partnership between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean (EU – LAC).

Regional Director Danilo Salerno represented Cooperatives of the Americas at the meeting, held on Tuesday, September 17.

The Global Gateway EU-LAC Investment Agenda (GGIA) was presented during the event, an ambitious plan that includes 130 projects aimed at promoting the ecological, digital and fair transitions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition, the implementation of the EU Multiannual Regional Indicative Programme (PIR) for Latin America and the Caribbean (2021-2027) was discussed, which focuses on priority areas such as the ecological transition, digital transformation, social cohesion and the fight against inequalities.

This forum is a key platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue on development issues at a global level. In this edition of the PFD for Latin America, important projects related to the region were addressed, such as monitoring the implementation of the 2023-2025 roadmap, agreed by both regions at the 2023 CELAC Summit.

The PFD is a fundamental space for cooperation between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean, where dialogue between civil society, local authorities and international organisations is fostered. The participation of Cooperatives of the Americas in this forum reinforces the commitment of the cooperative movement to promoting inclusive and sustainable development in the region.

By participating in this bi-regional dialogue, the organization helps ensure that cooperatives are recognized as key players in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and in building more just and equitable societies.
