With the presence of 42 delegates, bearers of 157 votes from 41 organizations from 17 countries, the assembly of Cooperatives of the Americas was held.
It was a pleasant moment of meeting and taking stock to continue projecting the strengthening and integration of American cooperativism.
The assembly took place on September 10 via virtual means, which allowed representatives of member organizations to connect from each country.
The opening was attended by the President of the International Cooperative Alliance, Ariel Guarco, who congratulated the region for the work carried out and "for its ongoing commitment to the ICA, which is the Common Home of all cooperators in the world."
"We live in a continent that is already riddled with inequality, and at the same time with immeasurable natural and cultural wealth, which we must care for and protect, showing that we can unite in diversity and inhabit our territories in peace," Guarco stressed.
The president of Cooperatives of the Americas, Graciela Fernández, thanked all the people who participated and claimed in the management report that the post-pandemic reactivation has occurred according to two very clear guidelines, "that of the territorial impact and that of the relaunch of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."
"Your support is what always motivates us, your actions are those that we always refer to when we dialogue with governments and organizations to influence the sector, your voices are those that we bring when we sit in the International Cooperative Alliance so that we are heard and the cooperative movement of our Region is characterized with its multiple identities and its importance for millions of people," encouraged the President.
