A new webinar organized by the Regional Committee of Financial Cooperatives and Cooperative Banks (COFIA) -with EU support through the project Coops4Dev– brought together more than 300 participants from all over the region.
With the opening by the Committee's president, Rodrigo Silva; and the initial greeting by the president of Cooperatives of the Americas, José Alves De Souza Neto; and the president of the World Association of Cooperative Banks (ICBA), Bhima Subrahmanyam; the event kicked off, which allowed the challenges and achievements of two emblematic cases to be shown.
These are the Cooperativa Riobamba, from Ecuador, and Sicredi Pioneros, from Brazil, who spoke about the processes, challenges and achievements that have consolidated their respective cooperatives in terms of digital transformation. The speakers were Geovanny Baños, Head of Development in Riobamba; and Heloisa Helena Lopes, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Sicredi Pioneira, accompanied by Cristine Holz, Manager of the Digital Agency of the latter entity.
Mario Ernst, CEO and founder of the consulting firm Evolution Labs, a specialist in digital finance, outlined some of the major trends, emerging models, and opportunities that digital tools represent for financial cooperatives, strengthening their service proposals for members and a link that reinforces their bond and identity.
El webinar, which is part of the activities incorporated in the ICA-EU Coops4Dev project, represents a major step in the strategy of COFIA, in its role as a generator of exchanges, learning and mutual collaboration between financial cooperatives in the region.
