{"id":1793,"date":"2019-12-17T20:45:58","date_gmt":"2019-12-18T01:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aciamericas.coop\/xxiconference\/?p=1793"},"modified":"2019-12-19T20:46:14","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T01:46:14","slug":"exciting-marathon-day-of-the-1st-cooperative-hackathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aciamericas.coop\/xxiconference\/exciting-marathon-day-of-the-1st-cooperative-hackathon\/","title":{"rendered":"Exciting marathon day of the 1st Cooperative Hackathon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The first\nCooperative Hackaton of Cooperatives of the Americas,\ncarried out thanks to the Partnership between the International Cooperative\nAlliance and the European Commission, was successfully developed since the\nproject # Coops4Dev \u201cCooperatives in development, people-centered companies, in action \u201dThrough which a scenario for institutional\nstrengthening was promoted: from the pillars of innovation, generational\nintegration and skills development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A hackathon\nis an event in which solutions to certain challenges are generated in marathon format, that is, under time and run. This one had the\nparticularity of working at face-to-face level of 24-30 hours without breaks,\nin order to obtain transformative ideas through the work of multidisciplinary\nteams, which force each member to leave their comfort\nzone of work experience and particular knowledge to contribute to group work\nand the general objective of seeking an innovative solution to a specific\nproblem or challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nhackathon methodology has been carried out in other regions of the International Cooperative Alliance, what was experienced\nin this first edition for Cooperatives of the Americas, was a momentous event:\nin terms of introducing an innovative element in the context of the Regional\nConference , but also in giving voice, space and\nstrength to transformative ideas that find potential solutions to real needs of\nthe cooperative sector, generating and sharing knowledge, capacities and\nexperiences to be implemented within the regional development strategy.\n\u201dExplained Danilo Salerno Regional Director of\nCooperatives of the Americas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1st\nHackathon was co-organized with three member organizations of Costa Rica\n(Cenecoop, Infocoop and Coopeservidores) and had 24 participants, 10 mentors, 1\nfacilitator, 5 jurors, 5 coordinators, 9 national,\nregional and global cooperative leaders who attended and they accompanied the\nday in a 24-hour marathon without stopping with young people from different\ncountries of the region such as Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Argentina,\nHonduras, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay and from various\nareas of knowledge, such as programming, economy, design, advertising,\nadministration, entrepreneurship, insurance, agronomy, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cooperative\nChallenges<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Axis of\ntraining and education, integration and collaborative\nwork as an alternative to the current hegemonic media, the aim was to promote\nproactive advocacy processes by cooperatives, for the formulation of public\npolicies and laws that favor the development of the cooperative movement and\nallow Exercise strategic communication in your\nactions.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Axis of\nTechnological Innovation Technological transformation is a reality, for this it\nis vital that the cooperative sector questions how to take advantage of\ntechnological tools to generate innovative solutions\nand interaction models of the associates with cooperative organizations, in\norder to generate innovative elements.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"808\" height=\"460\" src=\"https:\/\/aciamericas.coop\/xxiconference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Picture9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1795\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Early\nVictories<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the\nproposals presented, three were structured as an innovative technological tool\nwhose objective is to allow the process of exchange\nbetween cooperative organizations, while the remaining two focused on\ninnovating within the process of cooperative education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The\ndiverse origin of the participants made possible the development of multiple\nactions and ideas within the space and time provided\nfor the presentation of a consolidated proposal,&#8221; said the activity\nfacilitator Felipe Castro, recognized by the MIT Review Latin America as one of\nthe innovators social under 35, entrepreneur and promoter of business with purpose and impact as a way to create value for society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning\ninitiative was Worldcoops, a team made up of Yazmin Fonseca Brenes (Costa Rica\n&#8211; Coopemep), Kanneth S\u00e1nchez Mar\u00edn (Costa Rica &#8211; Conacoop), Daniel Casta\u00f1eda\n(Costa Rica &#8211; Conacoop), Oscar David Vargas Venegas\n(Costa Rica &#8211; Inclusive Helplessness) and Aldo Jara Mencia (Paraguay &#8211;\nFecopar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur\nproposal aims to promote the establishment of social and commercial relations\nbetween cooperatives around the world. WorldCoops\nseeks to put at your fingertips a tool where cooperatives access a platform and\nshowcase their products and services, and there will also be other spaces\ndedicated to sharing good practices, as well as failures, \u201dexplained Yazmin\nFonseca, participant of Coopemep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nevaluation process was structured according to 4 components: business model,\nexecution (design) during the hackathon, value proposition and impact in the\ncooperative sector.
